When he was young, he wrote sweet and romantic songs and music. He went to France twice to study modern composition and his style became sensitive with modern harmony. His composing style was changed from romantic to modern, but he did not forget Mexican folklore. His works have Mexcan mind and are sophisticated with modern harmony. He wrote guitar music offered by Andres Segovia. He even wrote several pseudo-baroque music that are also requested by Segovia. Ponce's "Suite in A minor" was performed first by Segovia as S.L.Vice's work. This suite progressed the research of S.L.Vice, and no researcher found this suite in old text. And the trick by Segovia and Ponce was came out. These music are performed and recorded as "baroque music". So, ear-copied scores were released without warranty of copyright, and Ponce could not receive a royalty here again. He composed guitar music, such as "Sonata No.3" "Preludes" "The variations and fuga on the theme of Spanish Folia", "Sonata for the guitar and the harpsichord". These music are his masterpieces for the guitar. Ponce treats dissonances beautifully and brilliantly, and they are matched to the guitar. He also wrote many piano music and orchestral works, which are not performed so frequently. He might be good at writing fugue, because he wrote the fugue for the piano based on the theme of J. S. Bach !

Ponce's works are containd in No.1, No.2, No.5, and No.6 of the CDs. The violin concert recorded in No.2 CD is remarkable. The theme of the second movement of the concert is his 'Estrellita' with very sweet melody. But, Ponce cooks this theme cool with modern harmony.
